This tutorial explains how to insert an empty PDF page into an existing PDF and how to add an empty page into your PDF document.

Step 1: Download and save PDF with an empty page inside

If you need to add an empty page into an existing PDF document, then the best way is to merge your PDF file with another PDF that contains an empty page.

Here is the list of ready-to-use PDF files containing only one single empty page. Right-click on the selected file and select Save As.. to save this PDF to your hard drive:

Please note that you need to use a paper size similar to your document. It is typically Letter in the USA or A4 in Europe.

Once you downloaded a PDF with an empty page, follow the instruction below.

Step 2: Split your current PDF if you need to insert an empty page

If you need to insert an empty page inside an existing document, then you need to split your pdf document first. You need to split your PDF document into two parts. For example, if you need to insert an empty PDF page after page 5 then you need to split your pdf into pages one to page five and page six to the end of the document.

Download PDF Multitool free application and split your source pdf document using the Split PDF function.

If you use Mac OS X then double-click on your PDF document in the Preview app. Then also open Finder windows with pdf containing an empty page. Now drag n drop pdf with empty page into Preview app into the panel with the list of pages. Then close the Preview and your pdf will contain the empty page you have drag and dropped.

Step 3: Merge part one of your pdf document + PDF with empty page + part two of your pdf document

To get the final document you need to merge three documents: part one of your document + pdf with empty page + part two of your pdf document.

Step 4: (If you only need to add an empty page) Merge your PDF with pdf containing an empty page

If you just need to add an empty page at the very end of your source pdf document, then you just merge your PDF document with a PDF containing an empty PDF page.

If you use Mac OS X then double-click on your PDF document in the Preview app. Then also open Finder windows with pdf containing an empty page. Now drag n drop pdf with empty page into Preview app into the panel with the list of pages. This will insert a new PDF page into the list of pages. Drag empty page to the end of the document. Then close the Preview and your pdf will contain the empty page you have drag and dropped.

Download PDF Multitool free application and merge your pdf files using the Merge PDF function in this app.

You can also automate the merging of PDF files using the PDF.co API platform from almost any programming language or from Zapier, Make, or 300+ other integrations.
