Convert PDFs to XLSX Spreadsheets Using PDF.co and Zapier

Step 1: Configure the Google Drive Trigger

Create a Zap and select Google Drive with the New File in Folder trigger.

Connect your Google account, then select the drive and source-PDF folder.

Test the trigger and choose your sample PDF.

Step 2: Configure PDF.co

Add PDF.co and select PDF to Anything Converter.

Connect your PDF.co account by signing in and authorizing Zapier through OAuth.

Configure:

• Output Format: Select XLSX.
• Source File URL: Map the File property from the Google Drive trigger.
• Page Selection: Leave blank to process all pages.
• File Name: Enter converted.xlsx or your preferred filename.
• OCR Language for Scanned Documents: Select the document’s language if processing a scanned PDF.
• Extraction Region: Leave blank to process the full pages.
• Custom Profiles: Leave blank.

For selected pages, numbering starts at 0. For example, 0,2 processes the first and third pages.

Step 3: Test the Conversion

Test the PDF.co action and open or download the file using the returned output URL.

Open the XLSX file in Excel or another spreadsheet application. Check the extracted rows, columns, headings, and numeric values against the source PDF.

Step 4: Save the Spreadsheet

Add Google Drive’s Upload File action and configure:

• Folder: Select the converted-spreadsheets folder.
• File: Map the output URL returned by PDF.co.
• File Name: Enter a filename ending in .xlsx.
• Convert to Document: Select No to retain the XLSX format.

Keep the destination separate from the trigger folder to prevent repeated processing.

Test the upload, verify the saved spreadsheet, and publish the Zap.
