Convert Dropbox Documents to PDF Using PDF.co and Zapier

Set Up the Dropbox Trigger

Create a Zap and select Dropbox → New File in Folder.

1. Connect your Dropbox account.
2. Select the folder containing your incoming documents.
3. Add a sample DOCX file to the folder.
4. Test the trigger and select that file.

Check that the trigger returns the file’s Direct Media Link, which provides access to the document itself.

Connect PDF.co

Add PDF.co → Anything to PDF Converter.

Connect your PDF.co account through OAuth, sign in, and authorize access.

Configure the Conversion

Set the following fields:

• Input Format: Choose the document conversion option supporting DOC and DOCX.
• Input Source: Map Direct Media Link from the Dropbox trigger.
• Output PDF Name: Enter a filename such as converted-document.pdf.
• Custom Profiles: Leave blank for the default settings.

The input must let PDF.co download the file without an interactive Dropbox sign-in. Do not use a Dropbox preview-page URL.

For other supported file types, select the corresponding input format. See the Anything to PDF documentation for available settings.

Test the Conversion

Test the PDF.co action and open the returned url.

Review the PDF’s text, images, and page layout to confirm that the document converted correctly.

Save the PDF in Dropbox

Add Dropbox → Upload File.

• Select the destination folder for converted PDFs.
• Map the PDF.co output url into the File field.
• Set the output filename if needed.

Test the upload and confirm the PDF appears in Dropbox. Saving it preserves a copy before PDF.co’s temporary output link expires.

Use a destination folder outside the trigger’s monitored location to prevent generated PDFs from restarting the workflow.

Publish the Zap

Publish the Zap after testing. New Word documents added to your input folder will now be converted to PDF and saved in the destination folder.
