Convert Email Files to PDF Using PDF.co and Zapier
Automatically convert saved EML or MSG email files into PDFs, including supported attachments.
Step 1: Set Up Your Trigger
Create a Zap and select Google Drive → New File in Folder.
Connect your Google Drive account and choose the folder where you upload EML or MSG files. Test the trigger and select a sample email file.
This workflow processes saved email files, rather than individual email fields such as a subject or message body.
Step 2: Connect PDF.co
Add PDF.co → Anything to PDF.
Connect your PDF.co account by signing in and authorizing Zapier when prompted.
Step 3: Configure the Conversion
Complete these settings:
- Input Format: Select the email message option for
.EMLor.MSGfiles. - Input Source: Map a direct download URL for the email file from your trigger. The link must be accessible to PDF.co, not a cloud-storage preview page.
- Output PDF Name: Enter
email-with-attachments.pdf, or create a unique name using data from the trigger.
See the Anything to PDF documentation for the available fields.
By default, email conversion includes attachments. Supported attachments are converted and incorporated into the PDF; unsupported formats may remain embedded attachments that require a compatible PDF viewer to access. See the email conversion documentation.
Step 4: Test the Conversion
Test the PDF.co action and open the returned url.
Check that the email content and expected attachments are included. The number of output pages depends on the email and its attachments.
Step 5: Save the PDF
Add Google Drive → Upload File and select a separate destination folder.
Map PDF.co’s output url to the file input. Saving the file preserves it beyond the temporary download link’s expiration.
Test the upload, then publish the Zap. New email files added to your source folder will be converted and saved automatically.
