Fill a PDF Form with Typeform Responses Using PDF.co and Zapier

Step 1: Find the PDF Form Field Names

Open the PDF in PDF.co PDF Inspector.

Select each fillable field and record:

• Its exact field name
• Its page index
• Its field type

The internal field name may differ from the label displayed on the document. Copy it exactly, including capitalization and punctuation.

PDF.co uses zero-based page indexes, so the first page is 0.

Step 2: Add the Typeform Trigger

Create a Zap and select Typeform as the trigger app.

Choose New Entry, connect your Typeform account, and select the form whose responses will fill the PDF.

Set Partial Responses according to whether the Zap should process incomplete submissions. For completed submissions only, leave partial responses disabled.

Test the trigger and select a sample response.

Step 3: Add the PDF.co Action

Add another step and select PDF.co.

Choose PDF Filler, click Sign in, and authorize Zapier to access your PDF.co account.

Configure the action:

• Source PDF: Enter the direct PDF URL or filetoken:// link.
• Fillable Form Fields: Enter the page index, field name, and mapped Typeform value.
• Output PDF Name: Enter a name such as completed-form.pdf.
• Leave text annotations and image embeds empty unless the workflow requires them.

The basic form-field format is:

page;fieldName;value

For example:

0;customer_name;[Typeform Name]|0;customer_email;[Typeform Email]

Replace the bracketed examples with fields mapped from the Typeform trigger. Separate multiple PDF fields with a pipe character (|).

To set the font size and style, use:

page;fieldName;value;fontSize+styles;fontName

For example:

0;customer_name;[Typeform Name];12+bold;Arial

Specify the font name when setting a font size so the formatting is applied correctly.

Step 4: Test the PDF Filler

Test the PDF.co action. A successful response includes a temporary URL for the completed PDF.

Open the URL and confirm that:

• Every Typeform response appears in the correct PDF field.
• Checkboxes and other controls contain the expected values.
• Text fits within the available field space.

Step 5: Publish the Zap

Publish the Zap after verifying the result. Each new Typeform submission will now generate a completed PDF automatically.

The returned PDF.co URL is temporary. Add a Google Drive, Dropbox, email, or other storage step if the completed document must be retained or delivered.
