How to Add Signature to PDF with PDF.co API and Postman?

In this tutorial, we will show you how to affix your name and signature in a PDF document using the PDF.co API. To perform this task, we will use an already configured Postman using PDF.co’s Postman Collection. To set up your Postman, kindly check out this tutorial.

We will use this Sample PDF Invoice to sign John Doe’s name and signature right below the table.

1. Draw Signature Using PDF.co Signature Tool

To get started, let’s draw our signature in the PDF.co Make Signature Tool. You can customize the font color and size of your signature. Once done, click on the Save Image button.

2. Download Signature in PNG Format or Save the Datauri URL

You can either download the signature image to your local machine in PNG format or save the Datauri URL. PDF.co has a built-in File Storage where you can permanently store documents and images. You can upload your downloaded signature to the File Storage to easily keep track and reuse the file. Check out this tutorial to see how it works.

3. Open the PDF Add Text, Signatures, and Images to PDF

On your Postman Collection Tab, kindly open the PDF Add Text, Signatures, and Images to PDF folder and click on POST /pdf/edit/add endpoint. To learn more about PDF.co Endpoints, check out our API Docs.

4. Ready-to-Use Sample Code

When you go to the Body menu and select Raw, you will see a ready-to-use sample code.

  • Kindly replace the current link in the URL parameter with the PDF source file link. If your file is in the PDF.co File Storage, you can grab the private link. You can also upload your files directly to the PDF.co API. Kindly check out the API Docs here.
  • In the Annotations parameter, you can add the text objects such as a person’s name. In our case, we will type John Doe and configure its other properties. You can easily get the x and y coordinates using the PDF.co Simple PDF Viewer Tool
  • In the Images parameter, let’s replace the current URL with the Signature’s Datauri URL and configure its properties as well according to how we want the signature to look in the PDF. Instead of the long Datauri URL, you can also use the private URL of your uploaded signature in the PDF.co File Storage.
